Entering the new year, many people choose to make New Year’s resolutions to help them reach their personal goals and better themselves. Creating resolutions don’t just have to be for personal gain, however, and can be a great way to set some goals for your business this year. Resolutions can be a fun way to get your team together to lay down some goals and map out how to accomplish them. Here are some resolutions to consider, and how to stick with them.

Have A Team Meeting:

Communicating what goals you have is the first step in helping one another accomplish them. Have an open discussion about aspects of your business that went well in the past year, what challenges you faced, and things you’d like to improve on. If you have a large business, have your departments each have a discussion (marketing, finance, sales, etc). Then, come together to discuss what each team has come up with. Having these conversations helps make everyone aware of what is going on within the company, and might even offer up new solutions and ideas! Having each individual write down personal goals can also help keep everyone on track, and encourages accountability and teamwork.

Keep Up With Google:

Google is known for frequently changing its algorithm, so make sure you don’t fall behind. All of their changes are meant to improve user experience and provide the most relevant search results. Dedicate some time to keeping up with what Google is looking for, so that you can help potential customers find your pages. Keeping up with current trends shows that your company is up-to-date and willing to communicate with customers however is convenient and fun for them. Technology is advancing quickly, and keeping up with it can make communication easier for both you and your customers. While you don’t want to over-extend yourself or spend a lot of time and energy on trends that won’t help out your company in the long run, you also don’t want to miss out on new ways to open communication and promote your business. Artificial intelligence (or AI) is a great example of a newer trend that is becoming increasingly popular. Not only does it help your customers answer questions and resolve issues quickly, but it frees up your time to focus on other aspects of your business by allowing AI to answer common questions that customers have. Social media is another trend that is always growing, so make sure to keep up with that as well!

Learn A New Skill:

Encouraging employees to learn new skills helps everyone at your company to communicate more effectively. While everyone will still want to focus on the role that they were hired for, having a basic understanding of what your coworkers or employees are doing helps you work better as a team, and can help create some great new ideas! It is unrealistic to master every skill, but learning the basics of other roles opens communication and promotes teamwork.
