Thank You and Happy Holidays

The end of the holiday season is just a few days away, and now is the perfect time to thank your customers, partners, and professional contacts. Thanking your contacts and letting them know you appreciate their business is not only a nice gesture, but will also help retain their business in the new year. Some business owners often forget this important gesture, especially with the hectic holiday rush. But a business does not have to go overboard and buy lavish gifts to show their appreciation. A simple “thank you” email will work just as well and can go a long way in maintaining your relationships. Which means, there should be no excuses that prevent you from thanking your customers during the holidays.

With that being said, we would like to take a moment to thank our vendors, customers, partners, affiliates, blog readers and social media followers. There really is no time more fitting to say thank you and to wish you happy holidays! We have had a great 2015 and are looking forward to what 2016 will bring!

Tips to Keep Your Business Off The Naughty List This Year

In the US, everyone knows the holiday season starts the minute the orange and black Halloween décor is swept off the store shelves and continues through New Year’s Day. As we approach the end of the year with the hustle and bustle of the holidays, making a marketing misstep could land you on the naughty list as you head into the new year. The following are a few tips to make sure this doesn’t happen to your business:

As we mentioned in our Retaining Your Holiday Shoppers blog, people are still looking to buy even after the holidays. However, this does not mean you need to flood customers’ and clients’ email boxes. A business needs to be strategic in their email marketing campaigns, and timing plays a very important role. To stay off the naughty list, businesses should consider pausing email nurturing campaigns during the most hectic weeks of the holiday season.

Don’t go MIA on social media over the holidays. Sharing your content on social media will often gain more reach during the holidays than they have all year. Social media can even help echo your existing promotions to a larger audience. The holidays are a good time to make use or greater use of your social platforms, and staying active is a great way to stay on the nice list with your customers.

Ranking in Google search results will always be crucial for a business’ SEO success, but this is even more so during the holidays. Buying backlinks and keyword stuffing may seem like a good idea, but many don’t realize the repercussions they carry. Long load times also increase bounce rates, lower rankings and are frustrating to your site visitors. Google’s top concern is user experience and if you are buying backlinks, keyword stuffing, and your site has long load times, your business is going to make the naughty list.

Automation is a powerful tool. It gives businesses the ability to schedule emails and postings in advance, which can come in handy especially around this time of year. Even though automation can be convenient for businesses, it is important to not over-automate. If you are scheduling emails and social posts, avoid the naughty list by focusing on providing fun, helpful content for your customers and save your more sales-focused content for the new year.

Go Global by Joining an Affiliate Program - BMT Micro

The final results are in for the November holidays and Adobe Digital reported that online spending on Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday in the US reached $11 billion (a 15% increase from 2014). Online spending outside of the US contributed a small but growing percentage of sales, especially on Black Friday. Global e-commerce is expected to grow nearly 21% worldwide to $1.59 trillion as online businesses continue to expand to new geographies. And when you sell digital products you have a huge advantage since you can sell anywhere in the world, especially if you have a great e-commerce partner.

However, the move to international commerce is perceived by many businesses as expensive and risky. Some businesses even feel that the amount of research involved and the local knowledge necessary for success is just not worth all the effort. So, is there a way for an online business to promote their brand and sell their products globally without a significant investment or financial risk?

The answer is yes, it can be done with affiliate marketing. When most businesses are looking to expand internationally, a primary barrier of entry is cost. Because of this assumed financial investment, many businesses are hesitant to go international. But, this is where affiliate marketing can really deliver for a business, especially an online one.

Affiliate marketing can be one of the best methods of entry into the $1.5 trillion global e-commerce market. Having a strong affiliate network can also bridge the gap between your home market and entering new, emerging markets. The wealth of knowledge your affiliates can provide is one of the most important benefits to affiliate marketing in foreign markets. And an online business can easily break through borders by leveraging their affiliates ability to reach local audiences in their native language. Ultimately, affiliates can ensure the right messages get to the right people at the right time by capitalizing on the following they have.

Affiliate marketing is a system that creates a win for all involved. But there is a definite advantage of working with an established affiliate network rather than trying to manage a program on your own. It is imperative to choose an affiliate network with the ability to pay affiliates in their local currency (even if the transaction was made in US dollars) if you want to recruit the best local influencers. Also make sure that the network offers your business the ability to report and process transactions in local currency and automates conversions for you.

Here at BMT Micro we encourage all of our vendors to participate in the BMT Micro Affiliate Program. This free service provides developers with additional channels to promote and distribute their product. Plus there are no additional fees involved! You pay only the affiliates for this service. The developer control panel includes administrative tools that allow you to manage affiliate sign ups, percentage and view sales reports from your affiliates. BMT Micro also handles all your payments to your affiliates. There are many benefits to joining an affiliate network from reliable merchants and the more you utilize the affiliate network, the more profits you will see!

Retaining Your Holiday Shoppers - BMT Micro

The holiday selling season is a crucial time for businesses and each new sale is a big deal. However, holiday sales are traditionally viewed as one-time transactions, and few businesses put effort into winning holiday shoppers loyalty to retain them for the long term. As a result, businesses are missing out on a huge opportunity to turn one-time shoppers into year long shoppers. Completing a holiday sale should not be the end of the process but rather the beginning of working to earn a loyal customer.

Businesses should make an effort to directly engage consumers since holiday shoppers tend to be more receptive to new brands during this time of year. To develop loyalty with new customers, businesses need to understand the importance of developing a marketing strategy that goes beyond the holiday selling season.

The following are a few strategies that can be implemented to build long-term relationships with holiday shoppers:

Give holiday shoppers incentives to come back
Customer retention starts with satisfaction. Chances are if a shopper has a great buying experience with your business, they will be more likely to shop with you again. To entice these customers to become repeat shoppers, offer them a discount or reward they can use on a future purchase.

Target shoppers that buy again for themselves
There are many holiday shoppers that buy gifts for others that they might be interested in themselves. The holidays can also be an extremely stressful time for shoppers. This is where a business has an opportunity to promote shoppers to treat themselves after shopping for others and self-gift. Self-gifting has been popular for years and after shoppers have spent countless hours buying for others, they want “me” time to spend money on things they really wanted.

Post-purchase email series
Even after the holidays, people are still looking to buy because many will have received gift certificates, cash or even pre-paid visas over the holidays. There are also some holiday shoppers that are going to forget that they even purchased from you. This is why it is important to get back in touch with your customers and create a post-purchase email series. To get the most out of your efforts, this series should be automated, personalized and optimized so you are frequently learning and updating based on customer’s behavior.

If you want your business to be remembered as more than just an option for holiday gift giving, it is crucial to develop a marketing strategy that will keep your sales going after the holidays. Give customers something to look forward to after the holidays and start the New Year off with a loyal customer base!
