How to Repost on Instagram: Maximizing User-Generated Content
Instagram is all about creating and sharing visuals that reflect your brand. Posting photos, videos, graphics, and Stories that you think your audience will love takes time and effort that are well worth it, but can get overwhelming. Re-posting content from other accounts can help take some of the pressure off of creating new content, while sharing quality content from other creators.
Benefits Of Re-posting Content:
If you haven’t shared content from other Instagram accounts before, it can feel lazy to re-post what they’ve already created rather than making new content of your own. However, re-posting content has some great benefits, especially when mixed with your own original work.
Providing Social Proof
Social proof refers the psychology behind how the opinion of other’s affects our personal views. Unless you have a very strong personal opinion about something, you are likely to be swayed by the opinion of those around you. In this case, you can use social proof to your advantage by showing off customers using your product or service, sharing a positive review of your business, or any other content they post that shares their great experience with you. Not only is it a great feeling to see happy customers, but it helps encourage others to purchase from you as well!
Building Community
Re-posting content from your audience can help strengthen your community and build loyalty. If your customers are posting about your business, chances are they are very pleased with the product or service they received and want to share with their friends and followers. Re-posting Stories or feed posts shows them that you value them and care about their opinion.
Complements Your Content
Although your audience enjoys your content, sometimes seeing re-posts from other people is a refreshing change. Everyone has a different content style, and showing off posts that you’ve been tagged in is a great supplement to what you have already been posting. Depending in how often you get tagged, you might not be able to share every post, but you can re-post some of your favorite content.
How To Re-Post On Instagram:
There are two ways to share Instagram posts- on your Story or on your feed. Instagram makes sharing to your Story very simple. Once you find the post you want to share, you’ll find a “share” icon that looks like a paper airplane icon next to the “like” and “comment” icons. After you click the share icon, you will see “Add To Story” at the bottom of your screen. Your next step is to edit the post to appear however you’d like on your Story. If you are sharing a photo, tapping the post allows you to show the photo with or without the caption underneath it. For Reels, tapping allows you to change the size between full-screen and partial-screen. You can also add stickers, polls, your own caption, or anything else that you think would would add a little flair! Once your Story is posted, it will automatically tag the original creator and allow anyone watching your Story to click the link back to the original post.
Sharing posts to your feed is a little more tricky. In order to share a post to your feed, you need to screenshot or screen record, depending on if it is a photo or a Reel. Before you do this, message the creator of the original post and ask for their permission. After you have their permission and your screenshot, simply upload the content from your camera roll and tag the creator in the caption. It is very important to have consent to re-post on your feed, so your audience feels respected and valued.
Re-posting on Instagram is an easy and fun way to diversify your content and show your audience some love. Most people get excited when a brand they tag re-posts their content, so give it a try and watch your engagement grow!
