Six Elements To Include On Your About Us Page

Published by BMT Micro on

Your About Us page is one aspect of your website you might not have put much thought into, but it can be an excellent way to help tell your brand’s story. Many potential customers look to the About Us page when looking into your business. Your About Us page is a chance to share the “why” behind your brand and make a great first impression. If you want to create an About Us page for your business or re-vamp your current About Us page, here are some ideas of what to include.

Your Story:

Every brand has a story, and sharing yours is a great way to help your audience understand why you do what you do. No matter how new or established your brand is, someone came up with the idea to start your business and grow it into what it is today. Even if you don’t think your story is all that exciting or original, audiences like hearing about how you came to be. Including the story behind your name is great to include as well!

The Face Of Your Business:

Including photos of your founder, CEO, or other key people can help humanize your brand and show your audience that there are in fact real people on the other side. Showing off photos of your office, your town, office pets, or anything else that is special to you can also be included here. Some people prefer more privacy, so if this isn’t always a good fit for every brand, but is fun if everyone involved is excited about the idea.

Mission Statement:

Your About Us page is the perfect place for your mission statement. What change are you hoping to see? Who do you help with your product or service? How do you accomplish this? Answering these questions help give your audience a clear answer on if you would be a good fit for them, and how you can help improve their life.

Social Media Links:

If you have social media accounts (which you should), link them at the bottom of your About Us page so that your audience has an easy time learning more about your company. Even if they are impressed with your website, they might want to check out your socials to learn more about you from a different perspective before making a decision.

Call-To-Action:

A call-to-action is important on any page, but it is something that people frequently overlook when creating their About Us page. Your call-to-action can be anything that would be beneficial to you and your audience- subscribing to your blog, taking a look at your most popular products, signing up for a newsletter, or contacting you to learn more. If your call-to-action doesn’t seem to be getting much attention, try another one until you figure out what your audience wants.

Social Proof:

Social proof doesn’t belong on every About Us page, but if you can find a way to seamlessly blend it it can help show your audience how you have benefited other customers in the past. Displaying past customer reviews at the bottom of the page or slipping in a quote helps to reassure your audience that you really are great!

Your About Us page is a chance to connect with your audience and give them a little bit of a backstory. As long as you stay true to your brand, it is hard to go wrong. What is your favorite aspect of About Us pages? What do you always make sure to include? Let us know in the comments!
