5 Of Our Favorite Social Media Platforms
Social media is a fun and effective way to connect with your audience and boost your business. While the primary focus of most platforms is having fun, they have also evolved into a way for users to get information, connect with others, and discover new products and brands. With so many options available, choosing which platforms to focus on can be overwhelming. While you don’t have to create social media accounts for your business, it is a fantastic way to grow, build brand loyalty, and have some fun! If you have been putting off creating social media for your business and aren’t sure where to start, here are a few of our favorite platforms.
Facebook:
With over 3 billion monthly users, Facebook is one of the best places you can be to help grow your business. If you are not an avid social media user, Facebook is a great place to start. One of the more unique features of Facebook is their wide range of users. You can find people of all ages, genders, and demographics, meaning that you are sure to find your target audience. While the average age of Facebook users is 30-49 years old, you will still find plenty of people outside of that age range. Facebook also does not focus on one type of content, but allows users to get creative with how they want to connect. You can post photos, videos, stories, or simple text. You can also create events and join interest based groups. With a little something for everyone, Facebook is a great platform for your business to join.
Instagram:
Instagram comes from the same parent company as Facebook, and is another popular platform. Instagram started as a photo-based app where users could share glimpses into their daily lives, but has grown to include videos (known as Instagram Reels) and stories users can add that disappear after 24 hours. If you are starting your Instagram from scratch, plan out what type of content you want to post, what tone you want to take, and some kind of aesthetic for your page. Posting a mix of content (products, fun pictures, a day in the life, etc) tends to do best, but make sure there is some cohesion to it. Be sure to interact with other accounts and reply to comments on your posts to help boost your page!
X (formerly Twitter):
Although X is not as trendy as it once was, it boasts 245 million active daily users. With a character limit of 280, X is known for it’s quick, easy to read content. Most users choose to take on a casual tone when using X, so if you want a platform where you can relax and don’t have to put as much planning into your content, this is the place for you! While X is mainly a text-based platform, they do offer the option for users to post photos and videos. Since the content is so short, user’s X feed is constantly refreshing and providing them with new content. Figure out when your target audience is most active and post or schedule your content to go out then.
Pinterest:
Pinterest is another platform that doesn’t get as much buzz these days, but still has 522 million active monthly users. Aside from helping to boost your SEO, Pinterest offers a fun variety of pins. Users can upload their own pins or save pins that they find- we recommend doing a combination of both. The main goal of Pinterest is simply to save and organize content onto boards that your audience enjoys looking at. You can even run ads, which show up among regular pins and do not interrupt the user’s experience. If you sell physical products, this is a great chance to show them off!
BlueSky:
One of the newest social media apps, BlueSky is a text-based platform that lets users post up to 300 characters along with the option to post photos, videos, and GIFs. Although many users compare it to X, BlueSky allows users more control over what they see in their feed and how they moderate their content. Users get three feeds when joining- Following, Discover, and Popular With Friends, but users are able to easily modify their feeds to show the type of content that they are interested in. BlueSky already has over 30 million users, so now is the perfect time to join!
There are other platforms that we use and love, but we love the ease and variety that these four offer. Being on a variety of platforms is beneficial to your business and makes you more accessible to your audience. If you are on social media, we’d love to connect with you!
